Biography:- Vikram Sarabhai

 Vikram Ambalal Sarabhai was an Indian physicist, industrialist, and innovator who is considered the "Father of the Indian Space Program." He was born on August 12, 1919, in Ahmedabad, India, into a wealthy and well-educated family.


Sarabhai received his early education in India, and then went on to study at Cambridge University in the United Kingdom, where he earned a degree in natural sciences. After returning to India, he completed his PhD in cosmic rays at the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore.


In the 1940s, Sarabhai recognized the potential of space technology for India's economic and social development and established the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL) in Ahmedabad. He also established the Indian National Committee for Space Research (INCOSPAR) in 1962, which would later become the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).


Sarabhai also played a key role in the establishment of several institutions such as the Ahmedabad Textile Industry's Research Association (ATIRA), the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad, the Community Science Centre, and the Darpana Academy of Performing Arts.


Sarabhai's contributions to the Indian space program include the launch of the first satellite, Aryabhata, in 1975, and the successful launch of Rohini, the first satellite to be placed in orbit by an Indian-made launch vehicle, SLV-3 in 1980.


Sarabhai passed away on December 30, 1971, in Kovalam, India. His legacy lives on through the numerous institutions he helped establish and the continued growth and success of the Indian space program.
